Whilst a romantic notion for many, dining by candlelight is reality for the billion people worldwide who live without electricity. The Branch Foundation is working to bring sustainable and environmentally friendly light to two communities in the Thai-Burma border area via two projects, power for 115 school children and lighting for 120 displaced people. To increase awareness of what life without electricity is like, and to help raise funds for solar panels, we’re asking our friends and supporters, to host a dinner party by candlelight!
Between Wednesday 1st and Friday 31st October we’d like you to invite your friends and family to a dinner party hosted in the dark (of course you can use power to cook!). To make the dinner parties a success take a few minutes to tell your guests about The Branch Foundation’s solar energy projects and encourage them to make a donation, and remember, no donation is too small.

Remember to be safe when using candles! Although they’re a much bigger fire risk in a bamboo house they can cause damage anywhere so please be careful.
If you have any questions about the dinners or want to let us know when your dinner will be send an email to Naomi our Communications Coordinator. You can also email her for advice on the best method for giving donations.
You can also join our event page on Facebook and share it with your friends and colleagues. The more parties the merrier!
There are also two films you can share with your guests either before or during your dinner:
We look forward to hearing about the dinners you host and thank you for your support!
